SANDS Lab, U.S. patent application for attacker profiling technology

Sands Lab (CEO Ki-Hong Kim) announced on the 17th that it has completed the US PCT patent application for a technology that can profile attackers and attack techniques. This patent is an important technology for cyber threat intelligence (CTI), and was certified as a new domestic technology in 2021 and 2022, and holds about 10 patents.

At the international conference '2022 AVAR' held in Singapore, Sands Lab, together with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), presented an example of tracking the TA505 attack group, a Russian cybercriminal group, through related technology.

Sands Lab plans to promote patents on the technology used after acquiring US patents, while proceeding with patent-based standardization work.

Sands Lab is selected as a standard patent support project by the Korea Institute of Patent Strategy and Development in 2022, and proceeds with a standard patent support project to apply its patents to technologies used as standards in the cyber threat intelligence market, such as STIX, based on profiling technology-based patents did.

Kihong Kim, CEO of SandsLab, said, “SandsLab will apply for various patents in the global market based on its core technology, and based on this, generate overseas sales based on technology royalties.” Attacker and attack technique profiling technology is an important thing that can reduce the task that previously took an expert from more than 5 days to less than 10 minutes by combining the big data that Sands Lab has accumulated over the years and the artificial intelligence-based technology that has been producing good results recently.” said.
