Sands Lab won an order for KISA's 'Cyber Security AI Dataset Update and Advancement Project'

Sands Lab (CEO Kim Ki-hong) announced on the 22nd that it has won an order for the 'Cyber Security AI Dataset Updating and Advanced Project', which was ordered by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.

This project is paying attention to a new cyber security paradigm following the acceleration of digital transformation. As the development of innovative ICT technologies such as AI, IoT, and Metaverse and the expansion of non-face-to-face work environments due to the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly increase digital dependence throughout society, attackers exploit the latest technologies such as AI and ChatGPT to cover security blind spots. It skillfully expands and intelligentizes attack techniques.

Moreover, these attackers collect information over time in an organized fashion and use sophisticated techniques to circumvent detection. Against this background, it is promoted as a major method for establishing a data-based next-generation intelligent security threat response strategy to effectively detect and defend advanced attacks by attackers.

The Sands Lab Consortium was formed and proposed together with Ksign (CEO Seung-Rak Choi) and E-Cooperation (CEO Deuk-Chun Lee), and the purpose and direction of this project were various datasets used to develop artificial intelligence technologies owned by each company. It will be reorganized and standardized to suit the needs of many cyber security artificial intelligence technology developers in Korea so that they can utilize it.

In particular, not only security companies but also external companies and organizations such as IT service companies undergo quality verification on hundreds of millions of petabyte-sized datasets, and various types of empirical artificial intelligence models trained using the built datasets. After confirming its effectiveness, it plans to carry out with the goal of disseminating best practices by deriving the meaning of using the latest artificial intelligence technology from the point of view of actual infringement response.

Sands Lab CEO Ki-Hong Kim, who is in charge of the overall PM of this project, said, “The project ordered by the Korea Internet & Security Agency this time goes beyond improving the technological capabilities of domestic security companies, and provides a dataset that focuses on cutting-edge technologies in the security field, such as cyber threat intelligence and threat hunting. aiming to build. When completed, this dataset will be of great help to domestic and foreign security companies and related research institutes, and we expect it to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen domestic security competitiveness.”

In addition, CEO Kim said, “We plan to collect advice from various external experts in the process of building the dataset, and make the dataset have significant value. In addition, communication channels such as meetup days with various companies are prepared so that more people can participate in the demonstration of this dataset, and reflect their needs and opinions to create a more usable dataset with more practical meaning. will focus on Through this, this project will go beyond simple data set construction and become a process of creating true value.”
