K-Sign, Subsidiary Sands Lab Technology Evaluation 'A Grade' Acquisition
K-Sign announced on the 29th that its subsidiary, Sands Lab, had passed the technical evaluation for the KOSDAQ special listing in the second half of the year.
The technology evaluation is a procedure for listing on the KOSDAQ as a special case of technology, and is a system that grants listing opportunities to promising companies with excellent technology if they pass the screening of an external professional evaluation agency.
Sands Lab received excellent evaluations in technological superiority, competitive advantage, and growth potential of technology products, and obtained A grades from both Nice Evaluation Information and eCredible, two professional technology evaluation agencies designated by the Korea Exchange.
SandsLab is a big data-based artificial intelligence service security company that develops and operates Malwares.com, which collects and analyzes new and variant cyber threat information (CTI) from around the world based on the cloud. In 2017, it was incorporated as a subsidiary of Ksign.
In particular, at the end of 2021, Sands Lab obtained NET (National New Technology) certification from the National Agency for Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for its 'binary reverse engineering-based attacker profiling technology', a core technology for profiling malware. NET new technology certification is the most difficult certification among certifications that can be obtained in Korea, and Sands Lab is the first in Korea as a security technology that incorporates AI.
The key to the new technology developed by Sands Lab is to extract feature information from malicious code binaries through reverse engineering technology, and to identify attackers and attack techniques through the extracted information. In addition, the vectorized feature information uses artificial intelligence technology to automate areas that were previously only possible for some experts to perform manually, such as clustering, tracking malware variants, and generating attack technique profiling information for each attacker. It is characterized by the ability to generate high-quality intelligence through mass analysis.
In 2017, Sands Lab became the second Korean company to join the global cyber threat alliance CTA (Cyber Threat Alliance) in recognition of its independent technology. It has established a united front that shares threat information with major security companies around the world and cooperates closely with each other. As of May 2022, various intelligences analyzed and generated by Sands Lab are being shared with more than 30 global cyber security companies. It maintains its position at the top of both the quantity and quality of intelligence shared each month.
Kihong Kim, CEO of Sands Lab, said, “Through the technology evaluation, Sands Lab, as a cyber threat intelligence start-up, was recognized for its core source technology and data collected and profiled over the past 18 years,” adding, “Information protection is directly related to national security. We will contribute to strengthening national competitiveness by safely responding to various cyber threats.”
Meanwhile, Sands Lab has selected Kiwoom Securities as the organizer and plans to submit a request for preliminary examination for listing on the KOSDAQ soon.
